Every year the Rose City Open hosts tennis players from the gay and lesbian community over Labor Day weekend, providing the opportunity to compete and socialize in the beautiful and friendly city of Portland, OR. The tournament is a GLTA-sanctioned event with proceeds benefiting the charities: Q Center, Cascade AIDS Project, and Portland After School Tennis & Education.  2012 is our 22nd year, making Rose City Open one of the oldest GLTA events!

WHAT/WHEN:  

Draw Party:   Friday, August 31st, The Benson Hotel, Cambridge/Oxford room (2nd floor), 7:00-10:00pm, cash bar, light finger food.

Banquet:  Sunday, September 2nd, 7:30pm, Madison's Grill East Wing Banquet Room.  An easy walkable 0.9 miles from Portland Tennis Center due south!  Banquet included with registration (additional tickets $20/guest), buffet 4-course dinner with vegetarian and gluten free options. Cash Bar serving Sam Adam's Beer and Angry Orchard hard cider.  Music, photo slideshow, fabulous raffle prizes, and more!

Banquet tickets:  Registration includes banquet.  $25 / additional banquet tickets for guests.  Banquet tickets can be purchased at the banquet.

Tournament food: We are excited to welcome 2 new Set Sponsors: Bernie's Southern Bistro will be catering lunch on Saturday.   Returning Sponsor, 3 Doors Down Cafe, will be providing lunch for the tournament on Sunday.   Thank you Bernie's and 3 Doors Down for your generosity!  We will provide subway sandwiches for players on finals Monday.  Bagels, bananas and grapes will be provided each morning.

Massages:  Derek Chittendren, LMT will be onsite throughout the tournament to provide free massages (tips appreciated!)

Stringing Services:  Players Racquet PDX will be onsite for re-stringing services and all your last minute equipment needs.

DRAWS:

Men’s and Women’s events.  Open, A, B, C, and D; a minimum of four players to have a draw.  Draws will be limited to: Open(16), A(32), B(48), C(48), D(16), or capped at 120 total players (due to limited capacity at our tournament site).  If draws fill up, players will be placed on a waiting list.   Register early to reserve your spot!

HOST HOTEL:

We are thrilled to once again have The Benson Hotel as our event host hotel!  To mark their 10th year as partners with the Rose City Open, The Benson Hotel is offering a super-value low rate of $119/night!! for RCO XXII participants ($70-80 less than the regular rate for an 4-diamond AAA-rated hotel)  Book your stay before August 9, 2012 to guarantee these rates!  Be sure to mention the "Rose City Open Tennis Tournament group rate" when making your reservation.  The rates have also been extended 3 days before and after the tournament (Aug. 28 - Sept. 6) should you wish to extend your visit to Portland.

Raffle Ticket Promotion: If you book your stay at The Benson Hotel during the tournament, you will earn 10 free raffle tickets!  Be sure to pickup your raffle ticket redemption certificate at the Benson Hotel when checking in.

Hotel Parking:  Valet parking is available at the hotel for an additional fee, but there are also a few city parking lots offering all-day overnight parking:  

--> Smart Park lots - $5 all-day weekend rate (10th & Yamhill, or 3rd & Alder lots are a both 6 blocks, or 3min walk from the hotel) **note lot at Bryant Park nearby hotel is closed weekends.

--> Union Bank PMC Garage - $11 total for overnight + all-day rate (100+ spaces, SW Washington & Broadway, 1 block from hotel, same lot used by hotel valets).  PMC has various lots around the city, but rates can vary widely.

Pets: The Benson Hotel welcomes pets ($25 additional fee) 

Public Transit to Portland Tennis Center:  easy 10 minute bus ride served by 3 bus routes.  Take the MAX light rail (15 min ride and 5 min walk)

Registration is CLOSED.  Fill out our online PDF registration form here, print out and mail with check to register.  Online registration with Paypal is NOW available! (additional $4 fee applies).
